Hi everyone, it's mes, Carmine! It sure has been a whiles.
Yous might remember that the Mom had mes allergy tested about five months ago because mes was having a lot of problems with mines allergies. Mes was having a lot of sneezy attacks (that's what the Mom calls thems) where mes sneezes 5-10 times in a row! Mes would get a bit congested. And sometimes mines ears were really itchy, too.
Heres is the results of mines allergy testing.
Mes is allergic to everything with a dark box with the letter "P" in it. Mes has 22 allergies according to the test theys did. A few of mines allergies are Johnson Grass, Perennial Rye, Wheat Grass, Dandelion, Sage, Mulberry, Willow, Corn, Flax, Peanut, and Rice.
So after theys gotted the results, the vet ordered mes an immunotherapy kit. The Mom says theys is giving me allergy shots to help mes build up a tolerance to all mines allergies. Hers says if it works, mines allergy symptoms will improve and mes might be able to get off mines allergy medicine someday.
Here are the vials mines allergens come in.
Mes started with the green vial. Then mes moved on to the blue one. Now mes is getting allergens from the red vial. The red vial is called the "maintenance" vial, and it contains 12 times the allergens as the green one does. That bes a lot of allergens!
Mes is down to getting an allergy shot once a month. Mes is on day 136 of immunotherapy. The vet said the Mom should notice improvement in mes by about 4-6 months of immunotherapy. Mes isn't as congested anymores and mes has fewer sneezy attacks than befores, so wes is going to stay the course.
The hope is that mes can get off the allergy medication someday. That stuff sure is smelly!
That's all for mes today. Tylan recently had dental surgery, but mes will let hims tell yous about that sometime soons. Don't tell hims, but mes actually got a bit upset when hims was gone all day for hims surgery.
Until next time, everyone!
We're happy to hear the immunotherapy is helping!
ReplyDeleteCarmine, we hope you feel better sooner than six months, but if you've reduced your sneezing, then that's good.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I knew that humans could get a round of allergy shots, but not cats, so I've learned something new today.
That is some fancy therapy Carmine and I hope the end result is a good one for you! Purrs from all of us.
