Darcy the Dog Who Talked Review and Giveaway

Darcy the Dog Who Talked by Liane Carter book cover
Most of the books I read about pets are about cats, but this one just looked so sweet that I couldn't resist!

Book Description: I'd never adopted a dog before. I had no idea what to do and this dog needed someone who did. An abused dog and a clueless human, we embarked on a journey of love, struggles and joy.

"Every abandoned Darcy dog needs a Liane."
- Teresa Roberts, Veterinary Nurse, Hertfordshire, England

My Thoughts: The love Liane had for Darcy is apparent on each and every page of this book.

Liane adopted an abused, scared, and beautiful dog from her local kennels. Liane helped Darcy go from a frightened dog to a confident one who loved life! The patience and love Liane gave Darcy truly changed her life in every way possible.

This story of transformation is beautiful beyond what words can express. The bond she and Darcy share is so precious and deep. I think so many of us can relate to this bond - one in which we cannot imagine life without our best furry friends in it. I know I certainly related to this bond with both my angel and current kitties.

I will warn you - the last two chapters of the book are quite sad. The end had me in tears with Carmine in my lap, purring to comfort me.

I know that many of you do not want to read sad right now. That is totally understandable. The blogosphere has seen way too much sad this year.

That being said, I think it's still very worth reading the book. If you can't handle the sad right now, just don't read the last two chapters. Darcy's transformation is so beautiful and heartwarming.

I don't know if Liane currently has any pets, but if she doesn't, I hope she'll adopt again someday. She has so much love in her heart to give a cat or dog - her fur friends are lucky to have found her.

  2. I love books like this but HATE the sad bits. I still think about some of the pets who died in books I'd read and feel sad about them.

    Great review!

  5. You are right...sadness hurts so much, ,but the more love we give to our furry ones, of course the greater the hurt and sad...you almost cannot have one with out the other.
That sounds like such a good book.
