It has been an awful couple of days. The amoxicillin the Mom was giving me made me feel very, very sick to my tummy. I did not eat anything for almost two whole days, so the Mom had to get D to help her syringe-feed me a little a/d.
I hid under the bed for two days!
I have spent most of the night on the Mom's bed tonight. I even ate just a tiny bit of chicken baby food earlier, but I am refusing to eat again now.
The only other medication that has made me this sick in the past is that evil clavamox.
The Mom was/is so worried about me that she talked to our vet about putting me on a different antibiotic. The vet says that clindamycin is not an optimal choice for treating pneumonia, but since I tolerate it much better than amoxicillin, she is willing to give it a try. We are waiting on our local compounding pharmacy to get it ready for me.
I have not coughed once in three days now! The Mom and I are very thankful about that! The Mom hopes that my tummy will start to feel better soon and that I will want to eat more on my own later today.
I am also thankful for all of YOU! Thank you for loving me and caring about me. The Mom tells me a lot of our friends have messaged her and asked about me when they talk. I feel like one special ladycat!
Please keep those purrs and prayers coming - we are definitely not out of the woods yet.
We will try to visit you all soon. The Mom is exhausted between trying to do the daily housework, writing, and fussing over me and making sure I'm getting all my medications and at least a little something in my tummy.
We are joining our friend, Brian's, Thankful Thursday blog hop. Check it out!
We're purring that you start feeling better, Lita. Clamavox never agreed with Ernie either.

ReplyDeletePurring my loudest and hardest...sending pawyers, too. I agree, Clavamox is evil and not just for kitties, MOL!
ReplyDeleteWhenevfur we are on any kind of antibiotic, be it us furs or our peeps we take very large doses of multiple strains of probiotics...inbetweenn the dodes of antibiotic. That seems to help with the tummy issues. and we continue those for several days after the antibiotics are done to ensure good flora in our gut...which is good to keep us in purr-purr health...(Yup, our peeps do the same and so they make sure we do if we need them...our vet says it is fine to do, but you might wish to ask yours.)

I am glad you have stopped coughing, Lita, but sorry that the amoxicillin made you so sick. Flynn couldn't stomach it either, but almost all medication had that effect on him. I hope you get on well with the clindamycin.
