Jewel loved to lay on her former owner's arm. Whenever he laid down to watch television or play video games on the couch, she'd jump right up and settle down on his arm.
When her former owner wanted to get up, he'd say, "Jewel, it's time to get up," or, "Let's get up, Jewel." She'd usually hop right up and get off the couch when he said this. Sometimes he'd have to repeat it a second time, but she usually got up the first time he said it!
Does your cat respond to commands?
What a sweetie Jewel was. And beautiful as well.
ReplyDeleteMy girl Eddy has learned what "no" means. When I say it to her she will indeed stop what she's doing (e.g., terrorizing the Christmas tree) and move on to something else, but only after spouting off and giving me the what-for.
Jewel was a beautiful cat. My cats usually moved on their own schedule and they trained me very well. ☺
ReplyDeleteJewel really was such a sweetie. Commands are not overly popular here, but we do understand them. We might choose to ignore them. Every night at bedtime Dad calls out "lights out" and we all go to our favorite sleep spots and settle in for the night.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet she was!
ReplyDeleteWe know some commands...but um...mostly we just do whatevfur we want, MOL!
Some of our furbears did better at that kind of thing.
How Jewel responded to commands reminds my of our family's cat, Kitty - a Russian Blue that just showed up at my grandmother's house back in the 90's. She acted a lot like a dog and understood a lot of words... She was instrumental in my mom getting her back checked after surgery - turned out Mom had MRSA... Kitty saved her life.
ReplyDeleteShe was a very smart kitty fur sure. We listen to Dad when night tea and relaxing is over he says "Bed time" and we all hop down and run to the bedroom. Of course we know this means treat time too. MOL
ReplyDeleteWow, Kitty was another very smart kitty!

She was a smart girl and so beautiful. Yes each of my cats understands my communications with them. They are a lot quicker and smarter than some give them credit for.
ReplyDeleteJewel was so smart! When Mommy says it's time to eat we meet her in the kitchen. We know our names and we come when she calls us. But that's about it.
ReplyDeleteShe was such a smart girl!
ReplyDeleteJewel sure was smart. We understand commands, but we never listen! MOL!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I do... and when I don't, it's on purpose! Binga rarely responds to commands because she REFUSES to be commanded!
ReplyDeleteJewel was a sweetie. Flynn responds to commands. When we are in the field and I want to look at one of the horses, I say "Wait" to him and he will sit and wait for me to come back. If he is going too near to the road hedge I tell him that is far enough, and he will turn and come back. He responds to many other commands as well.
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to see a Jewel's journey. She was a very special girl.
