The first couple Jewel lived with (yes, she had two homes before she came to live here) saw a movie with a character named Jules in it. I can't remember which movie it was, though. So they named her Jules.
When Jewel went to live with her former owner, he dropped the "s" and made her name Jewel instead of Jules. I'm glad he did that because I like Jewel better, and it definitely fit her.
How did you choose your cat's name?
Jewel was the purrfect name. I came her with my name, which suits me just fine!
ReplyDeleteWhat a good switch that was:))
ReplyDeleteI came with my name! Binga got hers because when my human brought her home she was bouncing off the walls - bing! Bing! Bing! Boodie, interestingly, named herself.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice Thursday!
ReplyDeleteDat's wunnewful. we like Jewel too. Me got meez name cuz mommy had lost a kitty and needed to find a new baby to work wiff Lexi. She had looked wound at so many kitties and when da gwoup called her and told her a litter of Ragdolls had been wescued she told them ifin one of da kitties was meant ot be wiff her, then it wuld be destiny. When she got there and me crawled up in hers lap and didn't move, she looked at me and sed, "youm little one are my destiny." But mommy likes to be original, so me became Deztinee. :)
ReplyDeleteLuv ya'

Jewel is a great name. So precious. My name is greek and means 'golden one'. Daddy and Mummy chose this name for me because I have golden 'glitter' in my coat when the sun shines on it. Xanthe xxx

ReplyDeleteI always love hearing how kitties got their names! Just speaking of the girls I've had as an adult: Sashi came with her name and I thought it was so unusual and beautiful that I kept it; Tara was named for my love of Gone with the Wind; Truffles because the moment I saw her she was just a precious little truffle; and with Mudpie, I wanted to stick with the chocolate tortie theme, and I love the famous chocolate/coffee ice cream dessert :)
ReplyDeleteThree families. Wow, we did not know that. We are glad that Jewel finally found her way to you, where she belonged. Thank you for sharing about the origin of her name. :)
ReplyDeleteShe was definitely a Jewel. Thank you for visiting us and praying for Lucy.

ReplyDeletebrandi chose her own name. Really.
Most of my cats have come with names already given to them, but we chose Amber's name and renamed Max from Smokey.
ReplyDeleteYes, Jewel is perfect. When I think of jewels, I think of precious stones. And Jewel certainly was precious in every aspect. xoxoxo from Deb and the Zee/Zoey kitties

Oh my do I have to say... I was named Potter after Harry Potter. The gal who fostered me was batty about Harry so there you go. I told Dad as we were talking as he carried me up the stairs to my new home and I wanted a "tough tomcat name". He said "Hmmm, lets see... tomcat... tomcat who is tough... hmm. How about Timmy Tomcat?" I loved it and him ever since.
