In the last couple of years of Jewel's life, I took her to the vet a lot - at least once or twice a month toward the end. Partly because I have hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and need to eat often, and partly because I wanted to make our trips fun for Jewel, we had a tradition of stopping at the Wendy's near our vet on the way home. Jewel really enjoyed being out, and she was always curious about the people and things she saw around her on our trips.
I'd get a bacon cheeseburger at Wendy's and share it with precious Jewel. Then, we'd have one of those tiny versions of a frosty, and I'd get vanilla so Jewel could have some as well.
She was an adorable little blackmailer! I'd give her a little piece of bacon or hamburger in her carrier, and then she'd eat it really fast and pop her head back out the top of the carrier and demand more! I was never sure if cats were technically allowed in Wendy's, and the manager of the store would wander around making sure his employees were doing a good job, so I'd give Jewel more bites of burger so she wouldn't pop her head up when he was walking by.
Though our vet visits didn't always bring good news about sweet Jewel, we sure did have some great times at the Wendy's afterwards!
I hope you're getting to enjoy all the hamburger and bacon you want now, Jewel. I miss you everyday.

ReplyDeleteHow fun that Jewel got to go to Wendy's! I know for sure that here in California, that would not be allowed, and I could never go because I have the bad habit of making myself known! Jewel was smart for not only staying incognito, but making you bribe her to do so. ;-)

ReplyDeleteWhen mommy and sissy go to da Vet they hav been stoppin' off at McDonald's and gettin' hers a bacon cheeseburger and sum furies. Sissy luvs those. Takes them back to when sissy wuz weally yung and needed to gain weight to be spayed. So wwe luvved yous stowry of you and Jewel goin' to Wendy's and can totally welate. :)
