Hi everyone, my name is Carmine, and I'm a plasticaholic.
So the Mom immediately went to researching on how to keep mes from
Don't worry, though, mes found some other fun things to try and eat! In fact, mes being the kitten mes was then, found lots of cool stuffs to get into and try and nom!! Mes tried to eat some things called thumb tacks, rubber bands, and my favorite - plastic!
The Mom got into the habit of putting everything that could fit into mes mouth up where mes could not try and nom it. My favorite remains plastic, so the Mom always takes everything out of the store bags as soon as hers get it in the door and puts the plastic bags where mes cannot get thems.
Mes misses my plastic snacks. The Mom says it's not good for mes, but they is tasty! Hers never lets me has any fun.
A note from the Mom: Pica can be a very serious condition. Please read more about it in the post Pica: When Your Cat Feasts on Fabric.
Thankfully, keeping all of Carmine's temptations away from him, giving him lots of fun toys to play with, and keeping his stress down has worked for us. :)
I like to chew on hard plastic stuff. Wally likes chewing on plastic bags and tape. The mom does her best to keep this stuff away from us and tries to divert our attention away from it. ~Ernie
ReplyDeleteHi Carmine, my name is Minchie and I'm also a plasticaholic. We need to form a support group.
ReplyDeleteThere isn't any good plastic laying around here...I would munch a bunch too!
ReplyDeleteI have been very lucky in that respect. My kitties so far don't chew on fabric or much of anything else. Glad you figured out a solution. Have a great Monday.
ReplyDeleteSo far none of us has been drawn to chewing plastic items, however, all of the house plants hang from the ceiling or up on a window shelf. Very good advice about pica.

I like chewing on paper! My human does not like that either.
ReplyDeleteI have never really chewed on anything. I did try electric and phone wires when I was a kitten but soon grew out of it.
ReplyDeleteYep, plastic isn't as much fun as you'd think it might be. Neither are wool blankets, as our mom tries to convince our brother Quint who'd just as soon chew them as to snuggle under them.
ReplyDeleteI don't really chew on things, but you've given me a few ideas, Carmine!! MOL
ReplyDeleteGlad your Mom is keeping you safe!
ReplyDeleteI prefer to chew paper, and Pixie is not really a chewer. We're glad your mom is keeping you safe ! Purrs, Zorro
ReplyDeleteCarmine I know you feel better having confessed your little "problem" but your Mom is right - plastic stuff is definitely not good for you! Just play with your toys and have fun without getting into the plastic OK????? Purrrrrrlease?
ReplyDeleteHugs, sammy
Plastic?! What a weird choice, Carmine! MOL! Sampson loves to chew on wet paper towels and napkins. Also bad for him!
ReplyDeleteCarmine, I am sure your Mom wants you to have fun, but not get sick doing it.
ReplyDeletewe have the same problem with Cody, not with cords but with tape, plastic bags, stamps....duct tape.........toilet paper wrapper (the plastic on the packaging), I have blogged about it before. The way we try to deal with it is to put all items that he can possibly chew gets stashed in our bedroom closet with the door shut!
ReplyDeletePipo is a plastic chomper too...the firmer it is the better, MOL!
