Jewel: Those of you who follow the Mom on Facebook know that I have not been feeling well all week. On Monday, I started having bad diarrhea and vomiting. The Mom decided to give me some slippery elm bark to help the nausea, and I quit vomiting after that. But I have continued to has diarrhea all week.
The Mom says our v-e-t is closed until Tuesday, which is fine with me, but the Mom wants me to go in for a visit. I haven't had as much diarrhea today (Saturday), but I am still having some. My appetite has been better today; I yelled at Mom's friend until he gave me some turkey earlier. MOL.
The Mom says she is going to ask the v-e-t about getting me on something called probiotics. I don't know what these are, but it sounds like more MEDICINE, and I no like that!! But I do want to feel better...
The Mom here: When I went to a seminar on caring for aging cats a couple of weeks ago, I asked the vet there about Jewel's occasional diarrhea, and she suggested I ask our regular vet for some probiotics to help her digestion.
I'll be taking Carmine in for his anal gland expression on Wednesday, so I'll take Jewel to the vet with us then - unless she declines, in which case, I'll take her somewhere sooner.
Continued purrs and prayers would be much appreciated. I just hate it when one of my fur babies is sick. :(
Experiencing the holiday blues? Or just need a little pick-me-up? Check out this adorable video of kitties giving high fives! It's guaranteed to make you smile. :) You can go here to watch it.
Before you leave, could you please send extra big purrs and prayers for our dear friend Gracie over at Brian's Home. We is very worried about hers.
Also, if you missed our interview, you can see it over at Mousebreath.
We hope you all have a wonderful Easy Sunday!
We're purring that Jewel feels better. We get probiotics...the mom started giving them to Zoey. We use Dr. Goodpet Digestive Enzymes that the mom gets on Amazon. (might be a little cheaper getting it there than from your vet...but do ask your vet about it).
ReplyDeleteSending purrs for Jewel. I hope she is soon feeling better.
ReplyDeletePoor Jewel, hope you feel better soon. Lots of purrs.

We're purring for Jewel to feel better. Ashton gets FortiFlora probiotics. They were originally for Newton at the vet's advice when he was having stomach issues, but now Ashton likes the flavor and it helps her to eat her canned food. Like The Island Cats, ours come from Amazon less expensively than from the vet. We hope you feel better soon, Jewel.
ReplyDeleteWe hope Jewel will be better soon.
ReplyDeleteLuv and purrs Hannah and Lucy xx xx
I'm hoping for solid poops soon!!! Then no need for vet. Feel better soon sweetie!! -purrs and purrs

PS. Once, for one of the peep's cats from long, long ago in ancient times, yogurt was suggested by the doctor. He said to just put it on her paws and she'd lick it right off. Apparently though, Kelsey discovered that it could also be wiped off on various things, including peeps. purrs
Jewel Honey, we are still hoping you feel better very soon...good the vomiting is gone! We have many purrs and hugs built up to send your way sweetie!!

ReplyDeleteWe hope you are feeling better soon. The probiotics are a great idea. We use Forti flori on Tucker for diarrhea too (it's cheaper on Amazon FWIW).
ReplyDeleteWe so hope you get better soon. It is horrible for you and so worrying for your peeps.

ReplyDeleteHappy to hear this. We're big advocates for probiotics and had a holistic cat nutritionist guest post for us on the subject.
ReplyDeleteOh No! I follow over 1000 people on Facebook so it is super hard for me to keep up with everyone there, I rely on blogs for that info. Praying that Jewel is feeling better soon. I hear that probiotics are good, but have never used them. Sending healing purrs.
ReplyDeleteI hope Jewel gets better and the probiotics (whatever they are) work!
ReplyDeleteWe send plenty of purrs.
We hope Jewel has a profitable visit with the vet tomorrow. Probiotics are good for pets.
ReplyDeleteHealing purrs for Jewel, has you tried given her pumpkin it is suppose to be good for digestion. Our vet recommends it for us.
ReplyDeleteWe are purring for Brian and his sisters extra hard.
We are purring and praying for sweet Jewel. We sure hope those probiotics do the trick, and that she gets better soon.
ReplyDeleteMany purrs for Jewel! We hope she feels better soon. We are purring SUPER hard for Gracie also, and hope that her recent improvement is the start of a good trend for her XOXOXO
ReplyDeleteJewel!
ReplyDeleteI´m purrying for you!
vets usually recommend fortiflora which only has one strain of probiotic in it and isn't as ideal as some of the other ones you can buy for yourself. I use PB8 on my kitties and kittens as well as yogurt, as most kitties handle yogurt pretty well since the probiotics end up eating the lactose in the milk that some/most cats are intolerant to.
