Cat in an Alien X-Ray, the 25th book in the Midnight Louie series, finds Temple Barr, a public relations specialist hesitantly taking on an interesting new client, Silas T. Farnum. Farnum believes his new attraction, "Area 54," will be a big success on the Las Vegas strip. However, the site of the building soon becomes a crime scene when two bodies are discovered. Meanwhile, Temple is trying to juggle her ex-boyfriend and new fiance, and a serial killer with intent to hurt them all may be back in Las Vegas. Everyone's favorite feline private investigator and his crew are on the case from the beginning. With a little help from his furry friends (the Cat Pack), Midnight Louie strives to solve the mysteries.
While some of the chapters of this book are written from Temple's point of view, others are written from Midnight Louie's, which I really enjoyed. I think the author does an excellent job of portraying the story from a feline's perspective.
The books in the series can be read independently of each other. I have not read any of the other books in the Midnight Louie series, and at times, I found the characters' histories and subplots a bit overwhelming. I would suggest reading the Forward ("Previously In") section as this does give some background.
I believe anyone who enjoys science fiction, mysteries, and cats would enjoy this book.
